Roberta Bayley - I Survived: First American Tour 1978
During a career that spanned the 1970s to 1990s, photographer Roberta Bayley was a central figure in documenting the punk rock movement. Working at the legendary live venue CBGB in New York City, she encountered many musicians and artists like the Ramones, Blondie, New York Dolls, Patti Smith, and the Sex Pistols. Presented in this stunning large paperback book by Peel & Lift "I Survived: First American Tour 1978" is the visual journey captured by Bayley as she toured with the Sex Pistols and captured band members (Johnny Rotten, Sid Vicious, Steve Jones, Paul Cook) on and off the stage. The images place us in the midst of the chaotic ascendency of this infamous punk outfit, unpredictable in its unrestrained energy and self-destructive bent. The Sex Pistols first American tour would also be their last.
